EBEN EZER

Who we are:
Eben Ezer ("Stone of help" in Hebrew) is a Slovak Youth Choir that has started its activities in 1988. The main aim of the choir is to unite young people in common projects and singing. It is formed by people who take care for all the areas of "everyday" life of the Choir. Eben Ezer currently counts 31 full members at the age of 15 to 40, who come from different towns of Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
Its seventeen-year history has seen more generations of young singers and conductors. The main projects include:
- Spiritual and Educational programs for young people - concerts in cooperation with schools (Levice High School; Trencin Elementary School)
- Participation in the Arrival of Slovaks to Lower Lands Celebrations (Vojvodina-Serbia, Nadlac-Romania) (1995)
- Concerts in various schools in Norway (1998)
- Concerts for Care Centers and public concerts in Switzerland (2000)
- Concert tour in spa towns of Czech Republic (2001)
- Participation in musical festivals and public concerts in many Slovak towns (Bytča, Žilina, Banská Bystrica, Trenčín, Stará Turá, Hermanovce, Vranov nad Topľou, Michalovce, Prešov, Košice, Bardejov, Bratislava, ...)
- Series of common concerts with Belgian amateur orchestra Artis Dulcedo in Belgium and Slovakia (2005)
- Participation in International Church Music Festival in Chester, UK (2006)
We have recorded three CD's: Magnum mysterium (1993), Immanuel (1997), and Schicksalslied (2005 - live recording).
Choir's repertoire includes old sacred music, music of contemporary artists but also Jewish songs, gospels and spirituals. In recent years we have also performed some pieces with an orchestra - concert in Bratislava with an amateur orchestra from Horni Sucha, Czech Republic (2003).
Currently we are working on a concert project of Mozart's Requiem, which is a big challenge for us.
